§ Lord Evans of ClaughtonMy Lords, I beg to introduce a Bill to amend the Leasehold Reform Act 1967 and make further provision for enabling the tenants of leasehold houses to enfranchise their leases and acquire the freehold; to provide that grants of long leases of houses shall take effect as grants of the freehold; to empower local authorities to assist tenants with the cost of enfranchisement; to permit housing associations and local authorities to enfranchise leases falling within the scope of the Leasehold Reform Act 1967; and for connected purposes.
