HL Deb 27 March 1980 vol 407 cc1157-8

227 Clause 48, page 59, line 2, leave out from "if" to end of line 4 and insert "in circumstances in which the fact that it is a public company is likely to be material to any person, it uses a name which may reasonably be expected to give the impression that it is a private company."

Lord LYELL

My Lords, I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in their Amendment No. 227. We have already discussed this on an earlier amendment.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said amendment.—(Lord Lyell.)

Lord MOTTISTONE

My Lords, before we go any further, and having waited a long time, I wish to thank the Government very much for these amendments, which they kindly promised when this Bill was before this House and put into the Bill in another place.

Lord LYELL

My Lords, I thank my noble friend. I think it was I who, at an earlier stage, dealt with these amendments, and we are very glad that there is some approval on our side of the House, at least, for them.

On Question, Motion agreed to.
