§ 8 Clause 4, page 5, line 37, leave out "the Medical Act 1950".
§ Lord WELLS-PESTELLMy Lords, I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in their Amendment No. 8. I should be grateful if your Lordships will allow me to speak again to another batch of Amendments. I refer to Amendments Nos. 49, 50, 61 to 64, 66, 67, 69 to 71, 73 to 78, 84 to 87, 89 to 91, and 97. They all deal with preconsolidation.
I think that I can say all that needs to be said in a few sentences. These are technical Amendments which pave the way for a much-needed consolidation of the Medical Acts. We are collecting a number of Medical Acts, and one of these days something will have to be done about consolidating them. These Amendments do two things: they either repeal some of the previous Acts or they replace a large part of some of the Medical Acts, the two Acts involved being the Medical Acts of 1969 and 1956. I do not think I need say anything further. It is preconsolidation and it will help the situation in the future. I beg to move.
§ Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amenment.—(Lord Wells-Pestell).
§ On Question, Motion agreed to.
