HL Deb 27 June 1978 vol 394 cc281-2

[No. 62.]

Schedule 5, page 110, leave out lines 7 to 10 and insert— 'In section 150(1) and (2) for the words from "to the clerk of petty sessions" to the end substitute, in each case, the words "to such member of the Northern Ireland Court Service as the Lord Chancellor may designate and such person shall forthwith give notice to the other party to the appeal".'

The LORD CHANCELLOR

My Lords, I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in their Amendment No. 62. It may be convenient to deal also with Amendment No. 87. They make certain changes to Sections 150 to 152 of the Magistrates' Court Act (Northern Ireland) 1964, and are primarily concerned with procedural matters. These Amendments arise out of the creation of a new court service and the desirability of maintaining flexibility of functions of different officers within that service.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(The Lord Chancellor.)
