HL Deb 06 July 1976 vol 372 c1222

Lord O'HAGAN asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they were consulted before the Commission of the EEC suspended certain grants in the dairy sector, and if so when.

Lord STRABOLGI

Although the operation of the FEOGA Individual Projects Scheme is a matter for the EEC Commission, officials of the three Agriculture Departments were told informally by the Commission on 9th June that applications for aid under the 1976 Scheme which were in respect of milk and milk products were not being included in the first tranche of projects to be recommended for approval, pending consideration by the Council of Ministers of forthcoming Commission proposals to deal with surplus production of milk products. Decisions on the projects to be included in the second tranche will be taken in the autumn.

House adjourned at four minutes past seven o'clock.
