§ 2.38 p.m.
§ Lord GARDINERMy Lords, I beg leave to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.
§ The Question was as follows:
§ To ask Her Majesty's Government what is their latest estimate of the date on which their White Paper on Computers and Privacy will be published.
160§ The MINISTER of STATE, HOME OFFICE (Lord Harris of Greenwich)My Lords, the Government regard this as an important matter and will publish the White Paper as soon as possible. I cannot predict the precise date of publication, but we hope that it will be produced within weeks.
§ Lord GARDINERMy Lords, while thanking my noble friend for that Answer, may I ask him whether he is aware that I am aware that the delay is not in any way the fault of the Home Office and that I shall continue to exercise the Christian virtue of patience?
