HL Deb 30 October 1975 vol 365 c633

[Nos. 15 and 16]

Clause 16, page 16, line 26, leave out ("may he not") and insert ("shallf not be").

The Commons disagreed to this Amendment for the following Reason:

Because the said Amendment would remove the discretion of the Secretary of State in respect of grants under Part I of the Industry Act 1972, and the Commons do not offer any further Reason trusting that this Reason may be deemed sufficient.

Lord BESWICK

My Lords, I beg to move that this House doth not insist on their Amendment No. 15 to which the Commons have disagreed for the Reason numbered 16, which is similar to the Reason which T quoted on the last Amendment, because it is considered by the authorities there to be a privilege Amendment.

Moved, That this House doth not insist on their Amendment No. 15 to which the Commons have disagreed for the Reason numbered 16.—(Lord Beswick.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
