HL Deb 30 October 1975 vol 365 cc721-2

[No. 47]

Clause 26, page 15, line 16, at end insert("(3) Section 1(5) above and paragraphs 13 and 21 of Schedule 1 below extend to Northern Ireland, but none of the other provisions of the Act so extends.")

Lord LOVELL-DAVIS

My Lords, I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in their Amendment No. 47. Northern Ireland has its own separate editions of the Statutes which apply to it and its own separate legal system, and does not wish to be troubled by legislation which does not concern it. As Westminster legislation extends to Northern Ireland unless it is stated that it does not so extend, it is necessary to spell out the position precisely. There is nothing unusual about this. I beg to move.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Lord Lovell-Davis.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
