Clause 8, page 7, line 36, at end insert—
(5) Where the Agency exercise or propose to exercise their powers under this section in connection with land as respects which a local authority have before the appointed day incurred expenditure in the exercise of similar powers, the Agency may, if they think fit, pay to the authority concerned the amount of that expenditure or any part thereof.
§ Lord KIRKHILLMy Lords, I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in their Amendment No.27. This Amendment allows the Agency to reimburse any appropriate expenses incurred by a local authority—whose associations have raised this point with us—before the appointed day in preparing schemes which are subsequently adopted by the Agency. Again, I would commend this to your Lordships. It seems an eminently sensible improvement.
