HL Deb 06 November 1975 vol 365 c1388

Baroness LLEWELYN-DAVIES of HASTOE rose to move, That Standing Order No. 38 (Arrangement of the Order Paper) be suspended so far as is necessary to give the Government power to arrange the order of business until Parliament is prorogued; and that Standing Order No. 44 (No two stages of a Bill to be taken in one day) be suspended for the same period. The noble Baroness said: My Lords, on behalf of my noble friend the Leader of the House, I beg to move the Motion standing in his name on the Order Paper. May I explain that if this Motion is accepted we propose, with agreement through the usual channels, to re-arrange tomorrow's Business. The Motion standing in the name of my noble friend Lord Mais on the European Communities Budget will be taken after the Committee stage of the Cinematograph Films Bill; and will be followed by the Second Reading of the Hare Coursing Bill.

May I also take this opportunity of saying that, subject of course to the progress of Business, Prorogation is expected to take place on Wednesday, 12th November. The new Session of Parliament will be opened on Wednesday, 19th November. May I also say that dinners are available tonight, and will be available next Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. My Lords, I beg to move.

Moved, That Standing Order No. 38 (Arrangement of the Order Paper) be suspended so far as is necessary to give the Government power to arrange the order of business until Parliament is prorogued; and that Standing Order No. 44 (No two stages of a Bill to be taken in one day) be suspended for the same period.—(Baroness Llewelyn-Davies of Hastoe.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
