HL Deb 22 July 1975 vol 363 c158

3.2 p.m.

Lord SHEPHERD

My Lords, there was no selfish thought in my mind when I made that suggestion! It has been the normal practice in the past with matters relating to expenses, particularly car travel, that a Resolution should be moved in your Lordships' House at the same time as in another place. My understanding is that another place will not be debating these matters until a very late hour tonight, if not a very early hour tomorrow morning. Therefore I suggest that, in those circumstances, it may be prudent not to move this Motion this afternoon but to take it on another day. In not moving the Motion, it does not in any way affect the operative date under which these proposals will be brought forward.
