§ To ask Her Majesty's Government whether it is true that applicants to join the Women's Royal Naval Service have, if married, to produce the written consent of their husbands.

§ Lord BEAUMONT of WHITLEYMy Lords, if that is not correct, why is 407 there a letter in my hand from the WRNS careers office assuring an applicant that it is correct?
§ Lord WINTERBOTTOMMy Lords, without trying to make a point, a mistake was made in replying to the lady in question.
