HL Deb 20 June 1974 vol 352 c1038

3.22 p.m.

THE LORD PRIVY SEAL (LORD SHEPHERD)

My Lords, I beg to move the Motion standing in my name on the Order Paper. It has been agreed through the usual channels that the Second Readings of the Housing Bill and the Housing (Scotland) Bill, which we are expecting from the Commons next week, should be taken together. Originally, it had been planned to take these on Tuesday, July 2, but I understand that noble Lords from North of the Border will he otherwise engaged on that day, and my noble friend Lady White has kindly agreed to move her Motion forward so as to allow the Housing Bills to be taken on Wednesday, July 3. My Lords, I beg to move.

Moved, That leave be given to the Baroness White to advance her Motion from Wednesday, July 3rd, to Tuesday, July 2nd next and that Standing Order No. 38 (Arrangement of the Order Paper) be dispensed with that day for the purpose of giving precedence to the said Motion over Public Bills and Orders.—(Lord Shepherd).

On Question, Motion agreed to.
