Clause 56, page 32, leave out lines 6 to 23 and insert— ("(11) In accordance with such directions as the Secretary of State may give, the regional councils of Greater Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Argyll and Clyde and Ayrshire and Arran, shall combine or have joint consultations in regard to the discharge of any of their functions.") The Commons disagreed to this Amendment but proposed the following Amendment to the words so restored to the Bill:

My Lords, I beg to move that this House doth not insist on their Amendment No. 17, and agree with the Commons in their Amendment No. IS to the words restored to the Bill. This is a matter of updating a date in the Bill.

Moved, That this House doth not insist on their Amendment No. 17, and that this House doth agree with the Commons in their said Amendment No. 18.
