Clause 18, page 24, line 16, after "Act", insert—
(ii) to the employment of new health authorities of relevant staff and speech therapists who are for the time being employed wholly or mainly for the purposes mentioned in the preceding paragraph by bodies who are such local authorities as are there mentioned;

§ LORD ABERDAREMy Lords, I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in their Amendments Nos. 51, 52 and 53 en bloc. Amendment No. 51 inserts in Clause 18(4) a power for the Secretary of State by order to make provision for the transfer to the employment of new health authorities of certain professional staff employed by local social services authorities. The staff in question are relevant staff defined in Clause 18(7) and speech therapists who are for the time being employed wholly or mainly by local social services authorities for the purposes of functions which stand referred to social services committees by 1777 virtue of Section 2 of the Local Authorities Social Services Act 1970.
