HL Deb 13 December 1973 vol 347 c1275
EARL ST. ALDWYN

My Lords, on behalf of my noble friend the Lord Privy Seal I beg to move the Motion on the Order Paper.

Moved, That Standing Order No. 44 (No two stages of a Bill to be taken in one day) be suspended until the House adjourns for the Recess at Christmas, and that Standing Order No. 38 (Arrangement of the Order Paper) be dispensed with on Thursday the 20th of December for the purpose of giving precedence to the two Motions standing in the name of the Baroness Burton of Coventry.—(Earl St. Aldwyn.)

LORD SHEPHERD

My Lords, the House will be grateful to the noble Earl. I understand there is a possibility, in the light of severe congestion of business next week, of some changes. I wonder whether the noble Earl would undertake, if these changes are to be made, to consider making a Statement later this afternoon so that we may have early knowledge of rearrangements, since there is now some delay in the post.

EARL ST. ALDWYN

Certainly, my Lords. Either I myself or the Leader of the House has every intention of making a Statement after my noble friend has made his Statement.

On Question, Motion agreed to.
