HL Deb 06 December 1973 vol 347 cc758-9
EARL ST. ALDWYN

My Lords, it might be for the convenience of the House if I were to inform your Lordships that, subject to the progress of Business, the House will rise for the Christmas Recess on Thursday, December 20, and return on either Monday, January 21 or Tuesday, January 22. It might be for the convenience of the House if we were to meet at 11 o'clock on Thursday, December 20.

My Lords, we have a long list of speakers for today's very important debate, so perhaps I may take this opportunity, in view of the difficulties of travel and the fact that the House has sat late on two nights already his week, to ask noble Lords to keep their remarks today as brief as is reasonably possible. I am sure that it would be for the convenience both of the House and also of the staff if we were to sit not too late tonight.
