HL Deb 28 July 1972 vol 333 c1659
THE EARL OF KINNOULL

My Lords, I beg leave to ask the first Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

The Question was as follows:

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether the Departmental Committee on Adoption has yet reported and whether amending legislation is likely to be introduced during the next Session of Parliament.

THE MINISTER OF STATE, HOME OFFICE (VISCOUNT COLVILLE OF CULROSS)

My Lords, I understand that my right honourable friends the Home Secretary and the Secretary of State for Scotland have just received the Report of this Committee. They have not yet had time to study it and it is too soon to say anything about amending legislation resulting from the Committee's Report. I should like to take this immediate opportunity to express the Government's appreciation of the public service which the Committee have performed in carrying out this important inquiry.

THE EARL OF KINNOULL

My Lords, I am grateful to my noble friend for that information which I am sure will be welcomed by those involved in this very human problem.
