HL Deb 02 August 1972 vol 334 c423

[No. 3] Clause 13, page 6, line 11, leave out from ("liabilities") to the end of line 13.

LORD POLWARTH

I beg to move, That this House doth agree with the Commons in Amendment No. 3. Provision for the payment of compensation for loss of office, et cetera, is now covered by Section 24 of the Superannuation Act 1972. It is therefore unnecessary to make any reference in this subsection to the application of regulations made under repealed provisions of the Act of 1968. I beg to move.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Lord Polwarth.)

LORD HOY

My Lords, I will take the assurance of the noble Lord that this Amendment is covered under another Act. But anyone with experience of Parliament knows that one always has to make sure about superannuation, because one sometimes finds that it is not covered at all. We understand that this Amendment makes provision for it, and in these circumstances we accept it with no objection.
