§ THE LORD CHANCELLORMy Lords, I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in their Amendments Nos. 95 to 97. These Amendments deal with the Committee of Magistrates for the Inner London area. The chairman is at present the chairman of quarter sessions whose office will be abolished by the Bill. The new chairman will be the chief metropolitan magistrate. These Amendments give the chief metropolitan magistrate power to appoint a vice-chairman from among the stipendiary magistrate members.
