My Lords, with the permission of the House I should like to deal with Amendments Nos. 4 and 5 together. I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendments. These Amendments, like Amendment No. 3, add to Schedule 1 a number of statutory provisions requiring amendment as a consequence of the lowering of the age of majority to 18.

an excise trade is carried on shall be valid unless the person making it is 21 or over. A reduction to 18 in this age limit is consistent with the policy underlining the Bill, and this would be the effect of the Amendment. I beg to move.

Rule 1 (1) of the Exchange of Securities (General) Rules 1963 defines a "minor" by reference to the age of 21 years, and all the other provisions relate to the holding of stock by persons under the age of 21. I beg to move.
