[No. 1]

Clause 2, page 2, line 13, at beginning insert ("approval by any person or").

LORD WINTER BOTTOM

My Lords, this Amendment widens Clause 2(1)(g) to cover the special case that arises where, for example, a claim is made that an encyclopedia has been approved by the local education authority. We were advised that this could scarcely be regarded as an indication that the book conforms with a type approved but that it is, rather, an indication that the literary content of the book—and thus every book having that literary content—was approved. The Amendment fills this gap. I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Lord Winterbottom.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
