HL Deb 12 December 1968 vol 298 c629

3.10 p.m.

LORD NUNBURNHOLME

My Lords, I beg leave to ask the first Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

[The Question was as follows:

To ask Her Majestys Government how many prosecutions under the existing gaming laws have taken place outside the London area in the past 12 months.]

THE MINISTER OF STATE, HOME OFFICE (LORD STONHAM)

My Lords, I regret that the figures for twelve months to the present date are not readily available; but I am obtaining, and will send to the noble Lord, the figures relating to prosecutions during 1967 and the first six months of this year.

LORD NUNBURNHOLME

My Lords, in thanking the noble Lord for his Answer, may I ask him a supplementary question? Is the Home Secretary satisfied that the police are doing all they can to prosecute under the present law?

LORD STONHAM

Yes, my Lords, quite satisfied.
