§ 2.50 p.m.
§ Order of the Day for the Third Reading read.
§ THE LORD CHANCELLOR (LORD GARDINER)My Lords, I beg to move that this Bill be now read a third time. Your Lordships, I expect, have not in mind the fact that, with the assistance of the Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills this is a Bill which consolidates the Forestry Acts of 1919, 1923, 1927, 1945, 1947, 1951 and 1963. My Lords, one Act is better than seven. When this Bill becomes law we shall have all our forestry Statute Law in one Act. As your Lordships will see, we have two more Consolidation Bills down for 1960 Second Reading to-morrow, so that we are slowly reducing our Statute Book into some state of order. I beg to move.
§ Moved, That the Bill be now read 3a.—(The Lord Chancellor.)
§ On Question, Bill read 3a, and passed, and sent to the Commons.
