§ 2.47 p.m.
§ LORD HASTINGSMy Lords, I beg leave to ask the first Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.
§ [The Question was as follows:
§ To ask Her Majesty's Government whether the Minister of Housing and Local Government has yet received the Report of the Milner Holland Committee; and whether this Report will be published.]
§ THE JOINT PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY, MINISTRY OF LAND AND NATURAL RESOURCES (LORD MITCHISON)My Lords, my right honourable friend has not yet received the Milner Holland Committee's Report, but expects to have it in the next two or three weeks. It will then be published as a Command Paper.
§ LORD HASTINGSMy Lords, I am grateful to the noble Lord for that information. Is he able to give an undertaking now that we shall have this Report and be able to read it before the Government publish their Rent Bill, which they intend to introduce, I believe, in another place?
§ LORD MITCHISONMy Lords, I am afraid that I have No 1nformation as to the progress of the Rent Bill or the time its passage in another place is likely to take. But the Report about which we are talking is expected to appear in the next two or three weeks. I hope that that will suffice for the purposes of the noble Lord,
