LORD SHEPHERD

My Lords, I think it may be for the convenience of the House if I make a brief statement about Business of next week. The Motion on Rhodesia, standing in the name of the noble Marquess, Lord Lansdowne, for debate on Wednesday, November 11, has now been withdrawn. In view of the large number of speakers for Tuesday, it has been decided through the usual channels that we should carry the debate on the gracious Speech on to Wednesday. On Tuesday, November 10, my noble friend Lord Mitchison will speak early for the Government, and my noble friend Lord Stonham will wind up. On November 11, my noble friend Lord Lindgren will speak early, and my noble and learned friend the Lord Chancellor will wind up for the Government. On Thursday, November 12, the debate on the Consumer Council, which is being introduced by Lady Elliot of Harwood, will take place as already arranged.
