HL Deb 19 May 1960 vol 223 c1054
LORD HAWKE

My Lords, I beg leave to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

[The Question was as follows:

To ask Her Majesty's Government what is the maximum-sized card which the Post Office will carry at the normal 2½d. rate; and whether there has been any change of policy in this matter.]

LORD CHESHAM

My Lords, the maximum size for postcards intended to go at the 2½d. rate is 5⅞ inches by 4⅛ inches. There has been no change of policy in this matter.

LORD HAWKE

While thanking my noble friend for his Answer, may I ask whether, if the Postmaster General sees fit to advertise on his postal vans that larger cards cost 3d., he will do the same on the booklets of stamps which he sells?

LORD CHESHAM

My Lords, while sympathising with my noble friend for the financial loss that he privately told me about beforehand, I will convey his suggestion to my right honourable friend.
