HL Deb 08 July 1959 vol 217 cc923-4

[The reference is to Bill (125) as first printed for the House of Commons]

Clause 10, page 6, line 34, at end insert— ("(a) for all purposes other than the purposes of the Firemen's Pensions Scheme; and (b) if his employment is at a training centre maintained by a fire authority, also for the purposes of that Scheme.")

LORD CHESHAM

My Lords, on Second Reading and Committee stage in this House my noble and learned friend the Lord Chancellor mentioned that discussions were taking place with the local authority associations about financial arrangements which will operate for pension purposes when firemen are seconded for temporary duty, and indicated that the matter might be dealt with by amendment in another place in this way. This Amendment which is the outcome of the discussions, has the agreement of all the interested parties. I beg to move.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Lord Chesham.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
