HL Deb 27 March 1956 vol 196 c795

After Clause 18, insert the following new clause:

Transcript of shorthand notes of trial on indictment

(". In subsection (2) of section sixteen of the Criminal Appeal Act, 1907 (under which the Secretary of State is entitled to have a transcript of the shorthand notes taken at a trial on indictment made and furnished to him for his use), the words 'for his use' shall be omitted.")

THE LORD CHANCELLOR

My Lords, your Lordships are in the same happy position with regard to this Amendment. I mentioned it when dealing with the first Amendment and put the reasons for it before you, so again your Lordships are spared hearing me at further length. I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in the Amendment.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
