HL Deb 25 July 1956 vol 199 cc199-200
LORD OGMORE

My Lords, I beg to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

[The Question was as follows:

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether any new and improved arrangements are being made for air traffic between Wales and Eire.]

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE DUCHY OF LANCASTER (THE EARL OF SELKIRK)

My Lords, the House will be aware that there is a service between Dublin and Cardiff which is operated by Aer Lingus. My right honourable friend the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation is very anxious to see additional services provided between Wales and the Republic of Ireland, and he is at present engaged in negotiations with that end in view. I very much hope that he will be in a position to make a statement on this subject in the not too distant future.

LORD OGMORE

My Lords, while thanking the noble Earl for that statement, may I inform him that I hope the present negotiations will have a most successful outcome? And will he arrange through the usual channels to let us know, so that we may put a Question down when the Minister is ready to answer it?

THE EARL OF SELKIRK

My Lords, I will certainly do that.
