HL Deb 27 October 1953 vol 183 c1393

[The references are to Bill No. 107 as first printed for the House of Commons]

Clause 3, page 4, line 9, leave out ("custodian") and insert ("competent authority")

LORD MANCROFT

My Lords, this Amendment was accepted by the Government in another place in the interests of uniform wording. Clauses I and 2 of the Bill use the expression "competent authority" and it was thought that the same expression was appropriate here. Of course, "competent authority" is a wider term than the word "custodian." I think this is a useful tidying-up Amendment, which I hope your Lordships will see fit to accept. I beg to move that this House do agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.

Moved, That this House do agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.— (Lord Mancroft.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
