HL Deb 27 July 1953 vol 183 cc881-2

Clause 15, page 10, line 5, leave out ("(except subsection (5) thereof)").

THE EARL OF HOME

My Lords, this Amendment will bring the repeal provisions of the Bill, which are in the final subsection, into force on the passing of the Bill. Before amendment the Bill required these provisions to be brought into force by Order in Council. This was proposed only because one of the repealed provisions was a necessary part of the provisions changing the chairmanship of the University Court, and should not have taken effect until the new Court came to be constituted. As there will now be no change in the chairmanship of the court, repeals can take place at once. I beg to move.

Moved, That this House do agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(The Earl of Home.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
