§ LORD CARRINGTONMy Lords, Section 96 of the Agriculture Act, 1947, extended the power to pay grants for field drainage and water supplies until August 6, 1952, with a provision for an extension by Order for a further two years. The Order now before your Lordships proposes to extend the payment of grants until August 6, 1954. Much valuable drainage work has been done and many new water schemes have been completed as a result of these grants, and I hope that your Lordships will agree that they should continue for a further two years. I beg to move that this Order be approved.
