THE LORD PRIVY SEAL (THE MARQUESS OF SALISBURY)

My Lords, I have to inform your Lordships that, together with the most reverend Primate the Lord Archbishop of Canterbury, the Lord Chancellor, the Earl Jowitt and the Viscount Samuel, I, pursuant to the Order of the House, waited to-day upon Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, and Her Majesty Queen Mary, with the Messages of this House of February 11, and that their Majesties made the following replies.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother:

"I thank you most sincerely for your Message of Condolence, which will help Me to bear the burden of My great sorrow. I am deeply touched by your warm sympathy and I am moved by this further sign of your close and constant affection towards Me."

Her Majesty Queen Mary:

"I thank you for your Message of Condolence. The warmth and sincerity of your sympathy will be a consolation to Me at this time of deep personal sorrow."
