HL Deb 05 June 1951 vol 171 c1006

2.42 p.m.

LORD WALERAN

My Lords, I beg to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

[The Question was as follows:

To ask His Majesty's Government what restrictions have been imposed at Glasgow Central railway station upon the waiting of vehicles in respect of which no permit is held; the reason for such restrictions, and the grounds of application upon which the permits for parking are issued by the commercial superintendent.]

THE PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY, MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT (LORD LUCAS OF CHILWORTH)

My Lords, as the noble Lord will appreciate, this is a matter of day-to-day administration of British Railways, and is not one in which His Majesty's Government would intervene. I respectfully suggest that the noble Lord should write to the Chairman of the British Transport Commission, who will, I know, readily give full and first-hand information about it.

LORD WALERAN

My Lords, I thank the noble Lord for the information he has given me.
