HL Deb 05 December 1950 vol 169 c717

2.36 p.m.

LORD SHEPHERD

My Lords, in moving the Motion that stands in the name of my noble Leader, Lord Addison, I should like to express on behalf of noble Lords who sit on these Benches and, at the special request of my noble Leader himself, their regret at the reasons which have led to the placing of this Motion on the Paper. It is due to the postponement of the Motion which Lord Woolton was to have moved to-morrow. We hope that the noble Lord, Lord Woolton, whose illness has caused the proposed alteration, will prosper and will soon be well, and we look forward to a debate on that Motion in which he can take part. We agree that it would seem undesirable at this moment to enter into a debate on the subject without his presence.

Moved, That leave be given for the Viscount Swinton's Motion (now standing for Thursday next) to be advanced to to-morrow.—(Lord Shepherd.)

On Question, Motion agreed to, and ordered accordingly.
