Second Schedule, page 43, line 49, leave out ("seven days,") and insert ("one month.")

THE LORD CHANCELLOR

My Lords, Clause 35 applies the provision of Section 7 of the Act to children between the age of nine and school leaving age as they now apply to children under the age of nine. In the case of children of the age of nine who were placed by a third party, without reward, with a foster-parent before the commencement of the Act, it would be impracticable to require the third party to give notice of the placing now, as the placing may have occurred a considerable time ago. The Amendments are designed to relieve third parties of the duty to give notification in these circumstances, and to increase from seven days to one month the period of grace. I think we can take these Amendments to page 43, lines 42, 43, 45, and 49 together. It is the same point. I beg to move.

Moved, That this House do agree with the Commons in the said Amendments.—(The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
