Clause 40, page 29, line 6, at end insert— ("Provided that nothing in this or the last foregoing section shall be construed as precluding a local authority from joining another local authority in establishing remand homes in accordance with the provisions of subsection (1) of section eighty-one of the Children and Young Persons (Scotland) Act, 1937, and subsections (2) and (3) of the last foregoing section shall not apply to any arrangement so made.")

My Lords, the purpose of this Amendment is to cover the special conditions which exist in Scotland and to enable local authorities there to provide remand homes. I beg to move that this House do agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.
