§ The Commons disagreed to the above Amendment for the following Reason—

§ THE LORD CHANCELLORMy Lords, this is an Amendment which I accepted at the request of your Lordships, thinking that it would afford the protection your Lordships desired. Subsequent inquiries revealed that the words your Lordships moved in are not sufficient to afford that protection. Consequently, I think we shall all agree that we ought not to insist on the Amendment which we inserted in this House. I beg to move that this House do not insist on the said Amendment.
