HL Deb 27 February 1947 vol 145 cc1069-70
LORD AMMON

My Lords, I think I should take this early opportunity to announce to the House a change in our proposed programme of business for next week, as it is one of considerable interest and importance to many of your Lordships. Owing to indispostion, the noble Lord, Lord Altrincham, is unable to move his Motion on Palestine next Monday, and in order to meet the convenience of my noble friend who leads the Opposition, and with the consent of the noble and learned Viscount on the Woolsack, I have arranged that the debate on Lord Altrincham's Motion should be postponed for a fortnight until Monday, March 17, instead of next Monday the 3rd, when we shall meet to continue instead the Committee stage of the Companies Bill. I hope this change will not be inconvenient and will meet with the general approval of your Lordships.

VISCOUNT CRANBORNE

My Lords, I should like, on behalf of the noble Lord, Lord Altrincham, to thank the Government for agreeing to this arrangement. He is unwell at the moment and would have been quite unable to take part in the debate on Monday.
