HL Deb 19 July 1946 vol 142 c694

Order of the Day for the Third Reading read.

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR DOMINION AFFAIRS (VISCOUNT ADDISON)

My Lore's, in order to make certain adjustments, and to bring this Bill into line with the one which has just been considered in Committee and also because it is necessary to secure the passage of the Bill with which we have just been dealing before the National Insurance Bill becomes law, I understand that it would be convenient if we did not proceed with the Third Reading of this Bill today.

VISCOUNT CRANBORNE

I quite understand the difficulty of the Government, and I assume that: they will have the Third Reading this Bill as soon. as possible next week.
