HL Deb 01 February 1944 vol 130 c612

VISCOUNT MAUGHAM had given Notice that he would call the attention of His Majesty's Government to the great complexity of legislation in relation to rent restriction and urge the desirability of a Consolidation Act being passed pending a reconsideration of the whole matter; and move for Papers. The noble and learned Viscount said: My Lords, the Motion which stands in my name is one which it would be for the convenience of the House, I understand, to take at a later sitting. It is suggested that it should be taken on the second sitting day following this, and if that is approved by your Lordships it will stand over until then.
