§ LORD WEDGWOODMy Lords, I desire to ask the first starred question in my name.
§ [The question was as follows:
§ To ask His Majesty's Government whether Commissions in the Polish Army in Great Britain are open to Jews, Ruthenes, Bielo-Russians or 644 Lithuanians of Polish Nationality, and, if so, how many of each of these minorities have received commissions.]
VISCOUNT CRANBORNEI cannot give the noble Lord detailed information on this subject which is the exclusive concern of an independent Allied Government. I am informed, however, that Commissions in the Polish Army are granted on a basis of professional qualification and without regard to the religious faith or racial origin of the Polish national concerned.
§ LORD WEDGWOODCannot we find out? We pay.
