HL Deb 13 May 1942 vol 122 c993
THE MARQUESS OF CREWE

My Lords, I beg to ask His Majesty's Government whether they have any statement to make on the fuel rationing scheme.

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE COLONIES (VISCOUNT CRANBORNE) (Lord Cecil)

My Lords, in answer to the noble Marquess's question I would say that the Government have considered the question of fuel rationing in the light of the views expressed in the recent debates. They have decided to submit to Parliament after Whitsun their coal proposals as a whole, covering both production and consumption and the organization of the industry. No White Paper will, therefore, be issued before the Whitsun Recess.
