HL Deb 24 March 1942 vol 122 c425
LORD SEMPILL

My Lords, on behalf of my noble friend Lord Barnby, who has been called away for Home Guard duties, I beg to ask the question standing on the Paper in his name.

[The question was as follows:

To ask His Majesty's Government if the further information promised in the reply given on December 10th, 1941, to question on Command Paper No. 6,242 is now available, and if not when may it be expected.]

LORD SNELL

My Lords, I have been asked to reply to this question on behalf of my noble friend Lord Portal, the Minister of Works and Buildings. The formal agreement is expected to be signed to-day to implement the arrangement referred to in my noble friend's previous answer. The delay in signing it is partly due to the fact that the scope of the arrangement has been extended to cover the sale to the United States Government of further supplies of Australian wool to be shipped up to April 30th next. Meanwhile shipments of wool from Australia to the U.S.A. have been continuing.
