HL Deb 01 December 1942 vol 125 cc341-2

LORD SEMPILL, who had given Notice that he would ask His Majesty's Government, whether any agreement has been reached, or is under negotiation, with the United States of America, for the estab- lishment, after the war, of a World Bank entrusted with the right to issue and recall the currency and credit of this country, said: My Lords, I suggest that it would be more convenient to your Lordships if the question which stands on the Paper in my name could be taken on a later day. May I, therefore, withdraw it now, in order that that may be done?

The LORD CHANCELLOR

My Lords, that of course is for the House to say. I am quite ready to give an answer to the noble Lord's question.

LORD SEMPILL

My Lords, as there are one or two other noble Lords who, I understand, have some observations to make on this matter, perhaps it might be more convenient if the noble and learned Viscount who sits on the Woolsack could agree that this question should be taken one day during the next series of sittings.
