HL Deb 03 July 1940 vol 116 cc773-4
LORD DAVIES

My Lords, I beg to ask the first question which stands in my name.

[The Question was as follows:

To ask His Majesty' s Government whether they have considered the advisability of restoring military bands to promote the marching efficiency of infantry units, and whether any steps are being taken to secure the necessary instruments from existing stocks which can be made immediately available.]

LORD CROFT

My Lords, I am glad to be able to inform my noble friend that approval has been given for Army bands, within the pre-war Regular Army number, to be maintained it infantry training centres, and existing; instruments will be used. I am glad to be able to say that instructions have already been given to that effect.
