HL Deb 04 September 1939 vol 114 c986

3.14 p.m.

EARL STANHOPE

My Lords, I understand that no Bills will be ready at three o'clock to-morrow afternoon because in another place only Second Readings are being taken to-day and they will not complete the final stages of the Bills. I think, however, that probably your Lordships will wish to meet at three o'clock, in case there is a statement to be made, and then adjourn during pleasure or for such time as is thought necessary until legislation comes from another place for us to deal with. Therefore I propose that we should adjourn until three o'clock to-morrow afternoon with the possibility, if there is no statement to be made, that we should adjourn for a period until there is business for us to do.

House adjourned at a quarter past three o'clock.
