§ THE FIRST LORD OF THE ADMIRALTY (EARL STANHOPE)My Lords, it may be for the convenience of the House if I forecast the business for the next few days. I think it is necessary that we should have a purely formal meeting of the House on Friday next at a quarter past four, when we propose to have First Readings of the Consolidated Fund (No. 1) Bill, the Czecho-Slovakia (Restrictions on Banking Accounts, etc.) Bill and the China (Currency Stabilisation) Bill. Then we propose that the House should meet again on Monday and take the Czecho-Slovakia (Restrictions on Banking Accounts, etc.) Bill through all its stages. After that there will be a Royal Commission to pass it into law forthwith. I understand that it is necessary to get the Bill passed into law as soon as possible. We shall also on that day take the Third Reading of the Cancer Bill, which your Lordships will have already discussed in all its stages and also the Second Reading of the China (Currency Stabilisation) Bill. I propose to take the Committee stage of the China (Currency Stabilisation) Bill on Tuesday, and the Third Reading on Wednesday, when all the stages of the Consolidated Fund Bill will be taken. The point which I wish to ask you to agree to is to have a purely formal meeting on Friday afternoon at a quarter past four, and then to pass the Czecho-Slovakia (Restrictions on Banking Accounts, etc.) Bill through all its remaining stages on the Monday.
