HL Deb 19 July 1938 vol 110 c955
THE LORD CHANCELLOR (LORD MAUGHANI)

My Lords, by this Draft Order it is proposed to vary the "scheme for the establishment of district probate registries" which is scheduled to the Supreme Court of Judicature (Consolidation) Act, 1925. The proposed variation is made possible by an increase in the annual number of grants. The effect of the variation is to give the public greater facilities for obtaining grants. The original Schedule was made in 1925 and thirteen years have elapsed since that time during which large districts have grown up and the population has increased greatly. It is therefore thought right to give the public greater facilities than they have at the present moment. The Draft Order has been considered by the Special Orders Committee of this House who have reported in favour of the draft being approved. I beg to move the Motion standing in my name.

Moved, That the Order, as reported from the Special Orders Committee on the 29th of June last, be approved.—(The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
